Pros

Great learning environment for smart (even if inexperienced) people who want to learn. I consider them my friends, but I hang out with some during the weekends and off-hours. People are good at what they do, casual environment, flexible, strong technology team (I'm not on it), used to be a big emphasis on developing (investing personally in) people; like character and values; (not so much any more since some key drivers of change have left)

Cons

Lots of resistance to change, despite the plethora of ideas that flow. No room for advancing. Owner is very stingy and restrictive with equity ownership, so there is virtually no opportunity for existing employees (let along newcomers) to build financial security.

Pros

- Good work /life balance--- Facetime will take you no-where so no need to do it - Nice buildings - modern buildings in the middle of nowhere PA - Colleagues are nice and friendly. They don't try to stab you in the back here

Cons

- Lack of clear career paths - Senior Management lacks executive experience and is shown in strategic decisions -- very few have pursued MBA or advanced degrees to compensate for shortcomings - Promotions go to top consultants; versus to those with the skills to lead as managers - Compensation is SUBJECTIVE. I repeat SUBJECTIVE. They tell you how much of the pie they want to split with you. "You're a good guy, you get X"... "You're a bad guy, you get Y". - Negative incentives to only work so hard based on compensation structure. Lots of "what's the point" attitudes because of how people are compensated

Pros

* Chatham's multiple-bottom-lines approach toward business and desire to have a positive impact on markets, clients, etc. are incredibly appealing for those who look to work for more than a paycheck. Chatham would not sacrifice its integrity for any price. * Chatham's people are outstanding. High caliber, interesting, dynamic, humble over-achievers. And many of them wear Crocs and shorts to work. * Strong capital markets opportunities without the hassle of raising family in NY. (e.g., 3 minute commutes, good schools)

Cons

* People who thrive on structure - both in terms of career path and work environment - may not thrive at Chatham. There are great opportunities for growth (both personally and as a company), but those with the highest satisfaction in the opportunities available to them have a rare combination of strong internal motivation/drive and humility.
