Pros

Superb mission, flexible PTO, catered meals, healthy snacks, a vast range of wine/beer, liberal education stipend. Some wonderful folks to work alongside. The office in SF is conscientiously curated. Elevated surroundings, smart, clean, and tidy. It's perhaps more than anyone would expect given the age of Checkr. Located on high floors, so the views are amazing.

Cons

Serious costing cutting measures continue to be introduced; it feels like Checkr is losing traction quickly in the highly competitive Silicon Valley market. Catered meals are one of the significant cuts recently announced. There appears to be a constant stream of lay-offs - some entirely inexplicable - exceptional people are either being let go or are moving on in droves. The rest of the workforce seems to be worried, with constant chatter about who could be next. Senior leadership is horrifying, the HR and Revenue teams are equally as bad; all overseen by an autocratic CEO.

Thanks for your critical feedback. We absolutely have explored various cost cutting measures, as we've widely stated the goal is to be more fiscally responsible. Small changes to ensure we remain a sustainable, growing business regardless of the economic conditions. But not sure what you mean by losing traction? The business remains very healthy, revenue will continue to grow, and while we won't hire as fast as 2019, we'll still invest in the business. We've also increased employer contribution to dependent healthcare coverage, and overall increased what I believe to be top of market benefits offerings. We have not cut all catered meals - lunch will continue to be served as it always has, and we simply decided to move to allow expensed dinners (when you work late) rather than catered dinner. (As mentioned - not enough people were actually staying for dinner and our food waste was becoming quite high - so the perk is the same, albeit offered in a different way). There is no stream of layoffs, even if it might feel that way as attrition is often highest at the beginning of the year with performance cycles happening. I will certainly share your review with the executive team and hopefully we can continue to work towards allaying people's concerns. Again - thank you for taking the time to share your tough feedback. - Arthur / Recruiting

Thanks for your feedback and sorry you don't feel positive about Checkr. We certainly want your experience to be more than a great office/perks, but I'm excited to hear you're aligned with the mission. There's always room for Checkr to improve, iterate and grow, but we need critical feedback like yours and I would love to see if we can help you feel differently down the road. Please feel free to reach out to me directly for any additional feedback, otherwise your HRBP is always there to listen as well. - Arthur / Recruiting
