Pros

There are ample opportunities for growth at Checkr. I've learned more in a short time than I have in the entirety of my career through the experience I've had here so far. Checkr is somewhere you can have the opportunity to stretch and grow in different areas if you seek them out. I also think we pivot quickly, which I think means we don't spend months and months solving things that aren't working. The work can be tough, but the work is meaningful and impactful. Benefits and compensation are great, perks are great too. I enjoy the people I work with, tons of opportunities to connect and get to know my colleagues outside of work.

Cons

Checkr can be challenging and at times, political. Like many companies, the more visible you are with leadership the better, which can mean work that goes on in the background can be overlooked even when it is just as impactful. I think Checkr attracts really ambitious and high performing individuals, but what tends to happen is the bar being raised continuously higher to the point of burnout.

Pros

Comp if you live in SF (poor if you live elsewhere)

Cons

CEO and CFO are prototypical modern capitalists: they preach inclusivity, work life balance, their mission, etc. But at the end of the day they will do anything (including upending the lives of hundreds of people) to protect their thin egos and decrease cost. Daniel in particular is a Musk/Zuck/Bezos wannabe. He makes uninformed, snap decisions that create more work for those employees who are actually the skilled individuals who allow him to reap the rewards of a true American CEO. They do not pay a living wage to their lowest paid, hourly employees (the excuse is always “well that’s what the market is”).
