Pros

- Genuine career growth over many years (multiple promotions) - Leadership empowers you to transform how work gets done—I've evolved my organization from transactional processing to directly contributing to company strategy and goal - Strong leadership where it matters. My exec leader advocates effectively for resources, provides strategic coaching on thinking bigger, and trusts senior leaders to own complex operational challenges. When you prove an approach works, you get support to scale it. - Document-focused culture means well-reasoned proposals win on merit, not politics. Write a clear problem statement backed by data and you get heard regardless of hierarchy. - Meaningful work at scale—background checks affect real people's lives.

Cons

- Resource constraints are real—often asked to deliver more without proportional team growth. Fast pace with shifting priorities means you need comfort with ambiguity and reprioritization. - Culture strongly rewards self-starters, which is great if that's your style but can feel like building the plane while flying it. Less structure than established companies.

Pros

Unlike many places where AI is just a buzzword, Checkr is deeply investing in real applications that solve complex problems. We aren’t just talking about it; we’re shipping it. The commitment to AI enablement is tangible. We have access to the latest tools like Cursor and Bugbot, which significantly streamlines our workflows and keeps the focus on creative problem-solving rather than boilerplate. If you enjoy "hard" problems, this is the place. Dealing with data at scale here provides a level of complexity that keeps you sharp and constantly learning. The culture is easily one of the best I’ve experienced. You’re working with incredibly smart, grounded individuals who genuinely care about the mission and each other.

Cons

Like any company that has scaled rapidly over several years, we have our fair share of tech legacy. It can be a hurdle when trying to move at lightning speed. While the new leadership is focusing in cleaning up the architecture through targeted engineering investments, we aren't out of the woods yet. It requires patience and a "builder" mindset to help pave the new path.
