Pros

They are growing very rapidly...and they like hiring from within.

Cons

There is no work/life balance. I would receive calls and emails at all hours 7 days a week. They gave me an iPhone and some expected me to always be available. If you are salary, don't expect a 40-hour workweek...lots of overtime is needed to meet their expectations of what needs to be completed. They have totally unrealistic expectations for "meeting expectations". They are too eager to look for someone to blame instead of resolving issues. I have been blamed for things I did not even do and then I had to take time out of an already busy schedule in order to prove my innocence. When I did prove my innocence for somethings I was blamed for and did not do, I never received one word of apology. Instead, they reminded me about some other mistake I did make as if to justify what they were doing to me...and finish by saying I needed to do better. Needless to say...a political environment. You get on someone's bad side and you may not be there for long. Someone takes a dislike to you and they can make your life miserable. I suspect this is where much of the stuff I was blamed for came from. They talk about love, accountability, and passion...but this is what they expect from employees...not given to employees. From my experience as an employee, I was not shown much love or accountability (from those falsely blaming others).

TOXIC WORK ENVIRONMENT

Pros

Building relationships in Communities, networking, and helping seniors and work schedule.

Cons

They pay employees to put positive comments on GlassDoor. For example, who ever can put the best comment about ChenMed will get a $100 gift card. The upper management is Horrible, Toxic, and corrupt. They show favoritism. They ignore turnover. Turn over on the sales side is through the roof. Toxic work environment due to horrible management. The sales team is treated as high school students. They do not value their sales team at all, and they get rid of good talent. No matter how much you brought to the table, awards, patients, they only care about today. Your past efforts do not matter. You can receive an award today and fired tomorrow. Rarely do they advance their sales team to upper management on the business side because they hire outsiders that are not qualified to manage the sales team which leads to a toxic work environment. For years ChenMed and Jencare have Lost countless MDMs and MGCs. The compensation plan is built around things you can not control which affects your income. Micromanaging. Also, there is a Divide between management and Sales team. They change your job title a hundred times from Market Development Manager, Membership Development Manager to Membership Growth Consultant (same thing) and pay $40k salary instead of $70 salary. You market the business, you developed new business and you manage and train new employees on ride alongs. In order to fix the mess, get rid of upper management and replace them with actual experience in the field such as your Membership Growth Consultants and provide training for them.

ChenMed Response
5y
ChenMed has never paid employees to submit reviews on Glassdoor or any other website. A few years ago, the company initiated a program called “Love What You Do”. It was based on patterns of positive feedback received on the company’s Speak Up employee survey where employees referenced their love and passion for the work they do, helping to transform healthcare for the neediest population; seniors in underserved communities. ChenMed was so inspired by this feedback, we encouraged employees to tell others about what they love and their experience with helping us drive our mission and to share their feedback. We ran a contest that provided for winning entries with a gift card as a thank you for taking the time to participate. We are proud of our sales team and the comprehensive training we provide them which consists of standardized training at our Home Office followed by customized training at the employees home market location. Our Sales Professionals are helping to rescue seniors every day and touch more lives in a positive way. ChenMed considers employee engagement and turnover a vital part of our success. We consistently seek feedback and the engagement of their employees as well as the turnover in their areas influence how we evaluate our leaders. We also have a dedicated Culture Team that helps shape a culture that encourages personal and professional growth, employee wellness, diversity & inclusion and the opportunity to help the company grow to touch the lives of even more seniors.

Pros

The mission of saving seniors is great.

Cons

Corporate is completely out of touch with the day to day. Their only focus is increasing the bottom line and putting the pressure on everyone else. The company has the highest turnover rate I have ever seen.
