Pros

Like many of the reviewers have mentioned, with any company the size of Chevron it can sometimes get in it's own way. There can be some very positive aspects of working for Chevron, but not if you are the type of person that wants honest, open two way communication and fair feedback.

Cons

Extremely analytical...too much for it's own good. How is it stated...paralysis by analysis? This is Chevron. Corp Management is afraid of it's own shadow which can often get in the way of trying to control the operating companies.

Pros

Financially secure company. I always felt safe working there because you always knew you'd have a job and a good retirement. Those days are gone.

Cons

Mediocre management. I worked for someone who took 20 years to get from the typing pool to an entry level supervisor. Her road was long and hard, and she made sure yours would be too.

Pros

Best reasons to work for Chevron include: Good work/life balance, competitive pay, good benefits (medical and retirement), pleasant personalities to work with, safety oriented culture, support for ongoing education

Cons

Some of the Cons for working with Chevron include: Since Chevron is such a large company, it takes a long time to move up the career ladder. Younger, highly motivated and high performing individuals could be discouraged by how long it takes to move into a substantial management and leadership position within the company. Some decisions also take a long time to make due to the conservative nature of the company.
