Pros

-learned how to stick up for myself & what not to put up with -learned what to look for when going into a company ie what to ask in interviews that will suss out whether a company is good to work at or not

Cons

-Being a female in software engineering at this company has been very difficult. I've experienced tons of sexism that trickles down from up top. -Lack of diversity & inclusion in the company; Chewy refused to make a post supporting Black Lives even though tons of employees specifically asked them to do so -Horrible sense of direction from management...the direction changes from day to day -There's no way to complete the tasks you are assigned in the regular 40 hours. Guaranteed to work nights & weekends at Chewy

Pros

Good benefits They want to help grow and develop you if you’re willing Positive people New BEE team is great (Best Employee Experience) New VP is extremely caring & employee focused

Cons

amount of growth can sometimes leave you with different managers at a more frequent pace than most, but that also gives the benefit of seeing different managerial approaches for your own learning

Worst Company in Boston

Pros

Employees get 20% off Chewy.com purchases

Cons

I have no idea why they opened the Boston office. The company's culture is built around ideas that are from yesteryear (or Florida) and are out of whack with the Boston market. Working from home is looked down upon despite it being a common thing at almost every tech employer in 2017. They apparently think work can only be done from 9-5 in the office. The PTO policy is a joke and is designed not for tech employees, but for the call center people they churn through. There is also a lot of tension between the Florida and Boston offices with the FL people frequently saying Boston "doesn't work hard." On top of all of that, the benefits are also extremely weak, no 401k match, no transportation reimbursement, and you already missed the exit so no equity.
