Pros

Interesting industry. A lot of good people. Those at the director and above level can make a ton of money through stock options - if you aren't getting stock options this place isn't worth it. VP who ran my department never stayed past 5pm so work-life balance is great.

Cons

Layoffs were common and done with no rhyme or reason - company should have a longer-term perspective given the family that controls half its stock isn't sweating quarterly performance. Big-time favoritism in certain departments.

Pros

The Choice Advantage system is very easy to learn and use. It is one of the better hotel systems. You also can receive discounts towards rooms that are decently priced anywhere in the country.

Cons

This job does not pay much so lay pay is a problem. You have to pay for quality workers. Training is not always sufficient or the workers are not dedicated at all times.

Thank you for providing your feedback regarding your employment experience at one of our franchised hotels. As a franchisor, Choice Hotels International does not own or operate hotels franchised under its brands and the hotel staff are employed by the independent owner of the hotel. We recommend that you provide your feedback on the applicable brand site on Glassdoor (e.g., Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, etc.) and identify the particular hotel at which you were employed.

Pros

Employee discount is pretty nice. It depends where you go and when to what discount you get. Sometimes, it's not worth using as some of the hotels offered are downright nasty. Get to meet different people from all walks of life Gain valuable experience in the hospitality industry

Cons

Low pay Have to deal with occasional rude and unhappy customers no matter what you do Because many if not all Choice Hotels are run independently, some areas offer better working environments than others. Unfortunately, mine isn't great.
