Pros

Talented people work here. Genuine interest in improving products, helping "customers" (hotel operators).

Cons

Issues with compensation policies throughout my employment. First was not informed during offer process that health coverage doesn't start until you're a few months in (used ACA to cover myself). Then even though I was prepared for 401k to start (also "late" at month 3), they didn't enable my account until I brought it up with HR. Then, I learned that because I started late in the year, I basically missed out on 4 months of merit increase. If you want a job here, make sure you bug HR about everything they should be doing and only start between Jan and Sept 30 if you don't want their merit increase policy to screw you over (if you start after Sept 30, your next merit increase cycle doesn't start until the following year, if you start before that you get a pro-rated cycle).

Thank you for providing your feedback. Our benefits waiting periods are pretty standard among most companies, although we can understand that waiting can be inconvenient. We go to great lengths to communicate these timelines during the offer process and in our first day orientation, and we are disappointed to hear that this was not effectively communicated to you. Despite your initial timing set-backs, we hope that you can appreciate our very comprehensive Total Rewards package for full-time associates that includes: market priced compensation, incentive compensation and/or star awards, paid time off (vacation, personal, sick, family leave, volunteer leave), medical, dental, vision, flexible and dependent care spending accounts, paid parking, fitness subsidy, wellness programs, TeleDoc, life and disability insurance, 401(k)/Roth 401(k), health savings account (HSA), financial management education, legal services plan, hotel discounts, back-up child and elder care, pet insurance, commuter benefits, adoption assistance, Exceptional Performance (EXP) Awards, promotion ceremonies, service awards, associate/leadership education & development, project mobility, job shadowing, mentoring program, on-boarding, coaching, associate services - vendor discounts, social events… and more!

Pros

Some of the other employees are wonderful.

Cons

The rest of them are deceitful, backstabbing, unappreciative and disloyal. The housekeepers often dont change the beds betweeen guests and the desk clerk in the evening has to resolve the complaints. They bully other workers, too.

Thank you for providing your feedback regarding your employment experience at one of our franchised hotels. As a franchisor, Choice Hotels International does not own or operate hotels franchised under its brands and the hotel staff are employed by the independent owner of the hotel. We recommend that you provide your feedback on the applicable brand site on Glassdoor (e.g., Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, etc.) and identify the particular hotel at which you were employed.

Pros

Majority of people in my department do not work many hours. It could be a good thing.

Cons

Our group is micromanaged. There is a process for everything. These process kill any posibility for innovation. People at the top are about optics. Credit is not given to those doing the work.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your review. As a current employee, we highly encourage you to reach out to your HR business partner to discuss your concerns as we are here to help you. We strive to foster an environment of innovation – like with our ideathons – and many other collaborative corporate-wide activities that continue to drive Choice’s high performance culture. We encourage you to participate in these activities, or perhaps join one of our Choice resource groups, as they can provide a platform for you to have a voice to drive change and innovation. We also offer many recognition opportunities and incentive compensation, like our Star Award program. If your department is not utilizing these benefits, please let your HR business partner know – our people are important to us, and it is important to Choice that hard work is rewarded and recognized.
