Pros
Co-workers are friendly PRN get to choose the weekend days they want to work first before full time staff fill in. PRN do not have to work holidays unless you ask management and really want to work the shift to help out. If you are sick or have an emergency and are not able to work your shift, you do not have to make up that shift at any other time. However, it looks bad and the schedule does rely on you to be there. If you have a problem with scheduling management is willing to work with you.
Cons
High requirement for PRN status, 3 weekend days a month. No option to drop down unless you want a decrease in pay. Lowest paying PRN rate in the area, however, working 3 weekend days a month does add up to a good salary. PRN are required to clock in and out of every shift and you do not typically get called off on the weekends if scheduling or census is low. You are the last to be called off. Expect to be there every shift you commit to. It is difficult to switch shifts unless you have a coworker that is willing to switch. You need to be aware that your schedule will not just be acute care. Christ has a rehab department and you will likely be trained to work on the unit and be a rehab therapist as well. You do not know what your schedule will look like on a weekend. Be prepared to be flexible upon arrival. Do not be late.
