Pros

Hard to think of any. Being employed and not unemployed. Great for creative people who want to problem solve with very little resources, high volume, overly matrix reporting for a small company and coworkers who are bougie fakes. (Small group of folks I would consider amazing coworkers)

Cons

Very low pay with high expectations to achieve stellar work. Meanwhile systems are out of date, coworkers are angry for all valid reasons. Some systems are updated but no one has the knowledge of its full functionality and ends up not getting used correctly and everyone reverts back to old ways. The range of employees range from smart and effective the other end of the spectrum are people who are completely clueless. Yes every company has those people but at Christie's stellar and great performance is not recognize and the clueless are not exited but kept on because no one has the balls to be real! In addition no true career path - every role you will have at Christie's is dependent on if your manager likes you, not if your skilled.

Pros

Prestige brand. Not many companies can claim to have been one of the two best companies at what it does for over 240 years. Great working environment and people in general. Good work/life balance, especially considering the norm in New York.

Cons

Because people do tend to stay for a long time, it tends to be a top heavy company (i.e., a lot of people in the management level). Because of this, decision-making can be slow, and advancement opportunities are very rare. Also, because of the prestige brand, the salaries are extremely low compared to similar roles elsewhere. These combine to create high turnover especially at the lower ranks, and lack of job satisfaction at the higher ranks.

If you love art its a wonderful atmosphere. It's a great company to start at and get comfortable in your field.

Cons

However, it is not set up for growth.

Thank you for your feedback it is always highly appreciated and we are glad to hear you enjoyed the exciting atmosphere we pride ourselves on. Over recent years we have put a lot of work into career paths and training to allow our colleagues to grow and develop within the company. However with just over 1600 colleagues globally and one of the highest retention rates in the market it is impossible to provide unlimited new roles to those looking to rapidly progress through the organisation.
