Pros

Great exposure to the art market and understanding of the auction industry. Learning the processes to give advise to clients and colleagues. Professional environment. Opportunity to progress into other departments after 2-4 years.

Cons

Stressful environment, difficult progression into the Specialist departments, unclear leadership. Demanding busy sales seasons with often late hours at work, although many events are very interesting.

Pros

Interesting objects to sell, great people, travel, exciting, I Learnt a lot and meet very interesting people along the way. It opened doors for me

Cons

The salary was horrendous and there was a big gap between top and bottom. Nothing is as good as Christies in terms of reputation. There were bias to titles.
