great brand cache but also too brand-arrogant

- great brand cache, huge interest and respect from the outside - interesting and rare objects, art and other collectibles come through - great place to learn if fields fall within your areas of interest - excitement at auctions

Cons

- brand too arrogant to respect its employees, takes people for granted, especially support functions - incompetent management, secretive - living on past glory, panicking in new competitive environment - silos create negative morale - no work-life balance, in fact, no life!

Worked in jewels department. Had a lot of flexibility with the projects and senior management was very close to the staff because of the small team sizes.

Cons

Working hours during auction season can be long and tough, and traveling may be an issue when you are trying to get pieces for a sale.
