Pros

Laid Back Can be slow or extremely fast

Cons

Very physical job. I am currently waiting to be reassigned to Box Office hopefully in the hopes I don’t have to do usher or concession work. Usher work is awful. You have three minutes to clean each theatre room, sometimes even less before customers start storming in and the boss is on your butt to keep moving. It’s awful being an usher. I have no experience being on concessions but I imagine it’s the same experience. People wanting their food and if you mess it up you’re in big trouble.

Pros

Fairly Flexible schedule (within guidelines); free movies; free training; great home office support team; room for advancement; 401K matching; decent insurance packages offered; hundreds of locations across the country (and relocation compensation); exciting industry; decent salary (for GMs); much-improved GM Bonus Program; new HR Department bringing in new benefits and Total Rewards Programs.

Cons

Expected to be on-call 24/7 (while upper management is promoting healthy work-life balance...) Can be very stressful Weekends/holidays required Long Hours, Late Nights Inconsistent support from Regional Management, not only from region-to-region but also within the same Region. Theaters can also be shuffled from region-to-region yearly, which makes it difficult to develop a supportive relationship between GM and RL. Too much focus on internal audit scores, without providing any real ideas, plans, or support to improve. Consistently met with accusations when theater doesn't perform up to expectations. Dealing with angry and irrational customers (just like any customer service job). Dealing with employee drama and pettiness (just like any management position) Many times feels like your success depends upon whether or not your employees feel like working that day. Difficult to cross over to Home Office because the Home Office views GMs as "valuable" and can't let go when a GM wants out.

Pros

Free popcorn, discounted snacks, knowing what movies come out which is a great perk and must know when working there in any position. There are more pros than cons.

Cons

A con would be management needs to loosen up on their employees and do what is right rather than act out.
