There is constant pressure within to hit increasingly ambitious targets year on year. Workloads can become very intense due to high turnovers or redundancies and then frequent recruitment freezes, meaning when people leave, existing team members are expected to absorb additional responsibilities without roles being backfilled. Despite consistently taking on this extra workload, there is often little recognition for it, and performance is still judged primarily on target achievement.
