Pros

....a free cup of coffee

Cons

You will attend mandatory meetings that you will provide your own transportation and cost of fuel to attend with no reimbursement. At times they may be an hours drive. The Market Managers don't have interpersonal skills. Some will use foul language frequently, some will try to meddle in your store unnecessarily. Many of them got their skills growing up on third shift at Circle K as entry level employees. You will be required to maintain all aspects of the store, scrubbing and plunging toilets, cleaning gas pumps...if your store has a roadsign with the price, you will have to change it with a pole which is very unsafe as they often fly down and you have to dodge them or be nailed in the head. Sadly, many employees are dishonest because the company pays the minimum wage and if some managers can cheat you out of hours by getting you to do a little for nothing (working off the clock) they will take advantage of you. You will count every package and carton of cigarettes in the store every week. Perks? NONE...oh, yea, you get a free cup of coffee if you bring your own cup or a free soda if you bring your own cup. If your looking to go into management of one of these stores, you should know, after working 65-80 hours a week, you will still be expected to visit your store on your personal time, known as a "night ride" twice a week and make a report of such on location at time of visit. Forget about enjoying a day at the beach.

Pros

flexibility, hours of operation, and decent management, at least on the store to employee management level for the most part. Customers are loyal and it's nice to see them on a regular basis.

Cons

Upper management, specifically geographical VP, not making decisions on a store to store basis, just "your all bad and I'm here to make you better" attittude is frustrating. Upper management should seek more individual input from the real "ambassadors" of the business. The CSR's are the first impression our customers get of Circle K not manager's. CSR's get the vital feedback from the customers (good and bad) and should have a voice or at least an outlet to support the good and bad of the business and help make Circle K the best convenience store there is!
