Pros

It's nice to work for a very advanced technology, data and innovation oriented company (part of RELX and LexisNexis Risk). The office environment and teams are great in downtown Portland (although we have worked remotely for the last year). We have enterprise tools for marketing and comms tools for working within a global matrix. The company has strong corp values and also promotes a bring your authentic self to work culture too.

Cons

Maybe it's harder for new hires to learn the culture with a remote work environment and fewer F2F meetings during the pandemic.

Thank you for the positive feedback regarding Cirium’s advanced technology, and innovation. We certainly want our employees to see Cirium as a forward-looking business. It’s great to hear you like the environment at the Portland, OR office. We too, love the Portland office, especially because of the great team there, the endless snacks and the inhouse pub! It is important for us that you feel you can bring your authentic self to work. We believe this is how people do their best work. It is a great point that you raise about new hires joining Cirium at this current time. We appreciate that it may have been a difficult year or so because of the COVID-19 pandemic and we want to ensure all employees are supported. We have an employee resource hub to support anyone who needs it, with for example a focus on psychological safety. Any feedback on the onboarding of new hires in virtual sitautions would be highly appreciated. Please share with elena.otreshko@cirium.com.

Pros

The best part about working at Cirium is the people. And most people say that. It's friendly, open and transparent. Some exceptionally talented people - who I've learnt so much from. The leadership team prefer the word team rather than hierarchy, and so collaboration and ideation are driven from the top down. The company has supported employees throughout the COVID-19 pandemic including additional paid days off work and flexibility for changing circumstances at home.

Cons

There's a lot to do! It's a fast-paced environment and the company is growing. It's exciting but you need to be good at prioritising and saying "no" to some asks. So not a Con but more a "not for the faint-hearted".

We love to see that you think Cirium cares. It does. Our aim is to ensure our people feel supported and encouraged. The most important thing for us is the health and safety of our team. As well as, the support and care for our local communities with the charity work we get involved in. Thank you for your great feedback regarding the team camaraderie. Collaboration is key to our business and its growth. Thank you also for addressing that you feel the work volume is high. It’s a great point you raise and we would recommend addressing this with your line manager and defining which of those priorities you are going to say no to.

Pros

None that I can think of...

Cons

Terrible culture... but what makes it worse is that during interviews they tell you how "diverse and inclusive" they are and how they "care about their people"...none of it true. You are just a number on a spreadsheet. If you are not a management favourite then you cannot afford to put a foot wrong. Any mistake will be blown out of proportion and you will be pushed out. Unless you are desperate stay away!

Thank you for leaving your review. We are sorry to hear that you felt like (in your words) “a number on a spreadsheet”, that is certainly not the culture we are trying to drive at Cirium. There is a high expectation of Cirium management to successfully lead and invest in the employees in their teams. To provide more details about your experience please contact the Cirium HR team (Charlene.Oke@lexisnexisrisk.com) and help us to improve our working environment.
