Pros

They have a nice office building in downtown, and the employees get pampered with many perks, including Happy Hour drinks, and tickets to musical events like SXSW.

Cons

The management is terribly inconsistent, fosters favoritism and there is plenty of politics. Good work is not acknowledged. Instead, in many groups, like the Design Verification group, some people in management with big egos target engineers towards their personal agendas. I was not even given a fair performance evaluation. The management can be very sneaky and dishonest. A few years earlier, I was made an offer in their Tucson, AZ office. When I asked about sustainability of that business in Tucson, I was given a rosy picture. About 3 weeks after I was made that offer, they shut down the Tucson office. I'm glad I had not taken their offer! They have limited product offerings, in only a single market, with only one major customer.

We welcome comments from our current employees as well as former employees such as yourself. We do think that the many perks such as the ones you mention are pretty cool and unique, and we’re always looking at new programs to enhance our corporate culture and employee engagement. As the additional feedback seemed very specific, including the reference to our Tucson operations from which the company exited more than five years ago, it’s difficult to provide comment, but we do appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback.

Pros

Great people. Most have enough experience to be great sources of information Challenging work that results in real-world products Great perks (ie ACL and SXSW tickets. Nice annual company picnic) Re-imbursement for public transportation Decent benefits Downtown Austin location

Cons

Serious schedule pressures result in an over-worked staff. No time for vacation. Not paid for PTO that is accrued over maximum. Some managers are completely unprofessional and childish. Upper management plays favorites. If you weren't around during the lean-times, you're not worthy of promotion. We can't all be drinking buddies. Review process is unfair. If you are going to be so selective about hiring the best engineers, asserting 30% "needs improvement" is just plain silly and non-motivational. Minuscule raises

Pros

Snacks and nice location, great co workers

Cons

Cirrus marketing spends a lot of time to present itself as a young hip company but on the inside it is anything but. Sexism is still a huge part of the culture so I do not recommend working here if you are female. Managers actually go out of their way to not allow employees to learn new skill and advance their careers. If you want an easy job where your opinions are not welcome work here. If you want to grow as an engineer and work somewhere that values everyone this is not the place for you.

We appreciate well-intended reviews of the company from any employee, current or former, as honest and balanced viewpoints about the employee experience are often useful in helping to foster our culture of innovation and promote the career development of our engineers from all walks of life, regardless of their position, gender or ethnicity. Cirrus Logic dedicates significant resources to supporting a multitude of STEM-related activities throughout our communities to encourage school-aged young women to pursue education in technology-related fields. We’re proud the company has taken an aggressive approach to promoting its female engineering workforce through active participation in great organizations such as Girlstart, Code 2 College, IEEE Women in Engineering, WISE, WES, and SWE just to name but a few. While this reviewer’s viewpoint provides their own individual perspective, such perspective can be difficult to extrapolate toward a larger understanding of the culture of the company as a whole. For that reason, meaningful perspective is typically found by looking into aggregate survey results. Cirrus Logic uses the Great Place to Work organization’s methodology from which to annually gauge overall employee opinions in several core areas. With respect to our female employees, the company’s score in these key areas in 2018 were as follows: Credibility, 91; Respect, 91; Fairness, 89; Pride, 92; Camaraderie, 92. While there is always room for improvement, on balance the company is firmly committed to building not only a great culture but a rewarding career path for all its employees.
