Pros

I liked the diversity of employees hired as contractors. Working conditions include flexible hours and lots of challenging opportunities.

Cons

If one is looking for permanent employment, contracting is not a stepping stone to that. Contractors do not get benefits so it can be uncomfortable to work very hard for permanent staff who have paid vacations; many contractors because they are not paid for holidays or mandatory vacation days make a lot less than their stated annual "salaries".

Large, stable company. Nice campus and ability to work from home.

Cons

Outdated development pipeline and tools. Not much room for growth. Mostly contractors and not W-2 Cisco employees.
