Pros

Great Paid time off package Good 401k Some managers allow telecommuting Most employees are friendly and competent Decent work life balance but it varies group to group

Cons

Despite making great profits benefits keep declining. RBS incompetence nearly caused collapse but they treat Citizens employees as second class citizens. Continues to outsource rather than hire locally New employees are paid higher salaries than employees who want to advance Management is very cliquey, the same groups of people advance.

Pros

Great benefits. Great coworkers. Great hours.

Cons

Lack of training. The training for this company is horrible. There is not enough of it for new employees. If you're hired in with banking experience already, that helps but still not enough. For those hired with no banking experience as a Teller or a Banker it sets them up for failure. The managers are not staffed appropriately. I have one Teller and one Banker. Both new to banking. I have a busy branch. How am I supposed to continue training them? It's a horrible experience for them and a disservice to the employee and customers. It is not right. The amount of stress put on a manager with only 2 employees is unreal. It's not because we are short staffed but because the company feels this is how the staffing model should be. Whoever came up with the staffing model has not stepped foot in a branch for years. They have no idea what it is like. This branch needs either an extra Teller or an extra Banker. The manager can not be a Teller, Banker, and a manager all at the same time. Then I am questioned why my manager tasks are becoming late or not getting done.

Pros

Technology transformation and greenfield projects. Could have been a great experience! Colleagues at IC and L1 Management were great to work with!

Cons

Terrible work life balance, aggressive deadlines, stressful day to day interactions. They don't really invest in FTEs but spend a lot on contract employees who are treated like cattle. People are asked to work weekends and evenings (yes Christmas weekend) without comp offs or overtime. You're berated in front of the whole team if you don't meet their impossible deadlines and targets. Upper management certainly likes to create the glass ceiling - I never felt comfortable or welcomed to forge lasting relationships with them. "Don't speak out of turn" is an actual warning given to us less mortals. I was so stressed working here I considered accepting roles below my current level just to get out, but fortunately did not have to and found a much better fit that checked all the boxes (yes, they're out there, you don't have to stay and suffer). The benefits are okay for a bank but not the best. 401k match doesn't kick in until after one year. Even start ups give up front matches.
