Pros

The Office Manager is the most loyal, kind managers you could ask for. If you have her behind you, you can't lose working here. She will never steer you in the wrong direction and do anything to make you comfortable. Admin/staff are not harassed . As long as you are doing your work and you're on time. No one bothers you. You are able to make up time for personal needs rather then lose out and not get paid, this is a great perk especially for parents who need to take personal time. the owners of the company mostly know all of their employees. You rarely see that in big firms. You're lucky to even meet the owner of a big firm. They are very understanding when it comes to employee needs not only at work but personal problems as well. The office administrator is also one of the greatest people to work for and there are tons of great people here to work with. Partners are kind and treat you as an equal. If you are not happy with where you are or the position you got hired in your manager or HR will usually find somewhere to place you so that your career goal is achieved. A HUGE PERK is if you leave on a good note and you feel like you weren't happy with where you went 99 percent of the time they take you back and 99 percent of the time the people who left DO come back which goes to shows the type of firm this is. Accountants can be hard to work for being they are under a lot of stress with deadlines but it's something that comes with the job like anywhere else. Joel Cooperman and Niles Citrin are two of the nicest men you'll meet and will do anything to give their staff a comfortable working environment.

Cons

The maternity leave could be better but that's probably what half the U.S. is saying right now.

Pros

I have worked at Citrin Cooperman on a full time basis for many years. It is a well-managed firm that truly cares about their employees. Management is consistently looking for new ways to improve the overall work environment, and it shows by the morale that is felt through the organization. It is a great place to learn and to either launch or continue your career. You will have the opportunity to build long lasting relationships both internally and externally with the clients.

Cons

Public accounting in general, at times, demands long hours especially during the peak busy season.

Pros

When it wasn't tax season you had your weekend to reflect on what you did wrong in your life to end up here. In addition, there really are great people that work here. It's just too bad none of them have any say in what happens to you.

Cons

This is JUST for the New York office. I'm pretty sure the good reviews for this office is from HR trying to get good people to work here. Trust me, it isn't worth it. The company doesn't care about it's employees or the quality of life of its workers. The tax department is a revolving door and all that is left is just a group that LOVES to procrastinate EVEN during tax season. For the small perks you get, you'll have to hear about how much it costs the company. Promotion? Be ready to brown nose the right people. But, as much as life sucks for the life of the accountant in NYC office, it is even worse for the support staff. Even though facilities and the admin staff work hard to keep this place a float, they are treated like second class citizens. There are no perks. No sabbaticals, no bonuses and there is no where to move up. Snow storms? I hope you have a shovel to dig your way to the office. Snow days are minimal and you'll have to hear about how much the company lost when they gave you one. In conclusion New York City is full of modern offices that care about the people that make them a success. This isnt 1982. Don't waste your time. Go for some place that will treat you with respect and pay you better.
