Pros

Great service culture, plus field safety culture. Stable workforce. If you are willing to work, participate, and stretch outside your "normal" comfort level, there is great opportunity here. Interesting place - where else can you work that has operations as varied as public utilities (electric & water), public safety (fire & police), public works, community development, etc.? "Emerging Leaders" training program

Cons

Frequent city budget woes (available resources). The occasional whiny co-worker who may be stuck in the past.
