Pros

-competitive sales environment, but with respect among employees; "sharking" is discouraged and people who overstep co-workers to make sales don't generally last -large selection of very good quality/comfortable shoes for men and women -enough current styles to draw young and trend-savvy customers -old-fashioned fitting/measuring methods are taught and used as a rule, often leading new customers to find the best fitting shoes they've ever had; leads many to become loyal customers -great benefits for full-time employees; excellent 401k plan available to all employees

Cons

-sometimes the balance of style and comfort leans too far toward comfort; many customers willing to spend top dollar don't buy, or buy less expensive items, because some of the higher quality/price lines are thin on attractive styles -part-time is straight commission, which is 6% on shoes and 8% on accessories; you have to sell your butt off to make a decent check as a part-timer -sale events can get crazy; depending on the location the floor can get so crowded with shoes and people that you can't move around, shoes get misplaced in the stockroom resulting in lost potential sales
