Pros

Cliffs allows employees to propose and implement innovative solutions. Great benefits although they have slipped slightly during recent cyclical downturn. Amazing history. A number of global locations creates opportunities.

Cons

Management shakeup was overdue. There will be a period of near term instability but it feels like we'll come out on top.

Solid core values and good people to work with, even during challenging times. The culture is positive and they believe in an open-door management style. Compensation is top within the region of the operations.

Cons

The past few years have been a little nervewracking and tough decisions have had to be made. This had led to a lot of rumors and people not feeling certain about their futures, which resulted in really great people leaving the company prematurely.

Cliffs' culture generally promotes a good work / life balance.

Cons

When economics get tight, Cliffs' is quick to focus on cutting staff rather than looking for less disruptive cost reduction options. When economics are good, Cliffs is quick to spend on growth through acquisition rather than strengthening the core and investing in improvements that would aid in weathering the down cycles in a very cyclical business.
