I do hope you took the time to do your Exit Interview and explain in detail why you feel the position feel short. Most of our manufacturing positions offer growth. Since there are no details about the location you worked at or specifics. We do wish you the best and hope your next career move is better suited. It is very unfortunate you are so disappointed in your experience.

Pros

At Closet Factory of Austin, I have really found my dream career. I was in the hospitality industry for 15 years, being capped at a salary unless I became the owner. At Closet Factory - the sky is the limit. As a hard worker, I am able to take on as many appointments and I can handle a month, and design/sell my heart out. At first, the CAD program was a learning curve. As I started getting better with help from our owners, I can successfully design a closet in less than 10 minutes. This enables me to design for our clients on site and give them an accurate pricing structure before leaving. I am able to take vacations, days off, time off for personal appointments, and still make over 80k a year, PLUS monthly bonuses. It is hard work, detail oriented, but at the end of the day- the most rewarding job I have ever had. My owners are 100% the hardest working individuals I have ever come across. They wear many hats as we are a smaller franchise- but ANYTIME we need help in ANY area of our business, they are the first ones there. I will continue to work hard as I stand behind my owners, my product, and my installation team. We are truly a family and always helping eachother out as much as we can. Meeting my clients and seeing the design go from measuring studs in a recently built home- to an installed pinterest closet- is the most fascinating part of my job. If you work hard and like to make dreams come true for clients, this is your dream job too!

Cons

You technically dont get paid vacation time - unless you sell virtually during your vacation. For me its not a problem, as we get paid 50% of our commission upon signed contract, and 50% of it upon completion of installation. During time off, you may have 3-4 installs and technically make that end 50% then.

Thank you for your feedback. It's important to have owners involved and very present in the business's operations. Some of the many benefits of being a designer are the flexible hours, great training and sales support, and of course, very fair commission on a high average sale product. It does vary by location; however, it's pretty common to get part the portion of the commission on the deposit for the project and the other portion when the final payment is made. We are delighted to hear your feedback and want all our employees to be as happy as you are.

It's unfortunate that you invested at least one year as a designer and felt that you needed to move on. It's too bad since you stayed during COVID, which indicates that you were engaged and dedicated to your career. A designer's design and sales skills continue to improve the longer they continue to dedicate themselves to the job. Maybe you should give some thought to talking with management about what they can do to help you strengthen your sales skills. I would also get clarity about your perception of how leads are assigned. As policies go, we try to book appointments at the client's preferred time and date, which influences who is assigned as the designer. There are other factors, of course, but availability is a starting point. Think about it and whether you decide to talk with us or not; we wish you the best and appreciate the time you did give us.
