Pros

The company did have have something great going BEFORE the PE firms bought it and took it private.

Cons

Where to begin... - Private Equity firms said they were going to buy the company and not change anything as things were going fine. That was 100% false. - Layoffs - VERY low employee morale - Equity grants post going private are an absolute joke - New leadership is clueless (especially in HR) - Zero transparency from new executives The company is a shell of its former self and the PE firms are clearly just trying to cut everything and everyone to make a profit. Making a profit is a great thing but doing at the expense of destroying Cloudera is what is happening. A sale of the company seems imminent as they are RIFing people globally every month now.

Pros

Loved my boss and all the benefits Cloudera has to offer.

Cons

Cloudera got a new CEO 5 months after I started working there and I was laid off a month later. I don't think the ink was dry on Robert Bearden's CEO paperwork and he was already laying 150 people off.

Pros

Cloudera is still the best-supported Hadoop distribution on the market today. They are making strategic changes to drive their business in the ML space for long-term growth. Executive leadership is strong and very transparent.

Cons

The organization is not flat which can be useful for promotion opportunities but harmful when it comes to making an impact. As the hierarchy builds, so have office politics. Recruiting takes a very long time. I honestly believe they are losing talent due to the slow recruiting process and a "grow with Cloudera" mantra that is just a mantra.
