Pros

- The holiday allowance was somewhat generous

Cons

- The company does not support colleagues in the way that is used to. Things have definitely gotten worse throughout the years.

Thank you for your review and feedback. We're pleased to see that you are happy in your store and working with your team. We're actually very surprised to hear this feedback about our home delivery driver adverts as we believe that both the job title, Customer Team Member - Home Delivery Driver and the opening paragraph of our adverts make it clear what the role entails. Within the advert we state: "We’ll look to you to make sure customers' orders are handled with care and help out in the store when you’re not on the road." The advert does go on to explain that your primary responsibility is to make sure customer orders are delivered, however during quieter periods you'll support the store team by assisting with in-store tasks. We also have screening questions as part of the application process which cover both in-store tasks and the driving licence requirements. Both of these aspects of the role are driven by demand and we're sorry if this wasn't clear for you.

Pros

Starting as a funeral arranger is deeply meaningful and rewarding work, as it involves supporting families during one of the most difficult times of their lives. The role allows for genuine human connection and helps develop strong empathy, listening, and communication skills. Each arrangement is different, which keeps the work varied and engaging rather than repetitive. There is also a strong sense of pride in helping to deliver a dignified, personal service, supported by a team that generally understands the emotional demands of the role.

Cons

The role can be emotionally demanding, particularly in the early stages, due to regular exposure to grief and distress. There is a significant amount of information to learn quickly, including systems, procedures, and legal requirements, which can feel overwhelming at first. The pressure to get details right can be stressful, as mistakes carry emotional weight for families. Time-sensitive tasks, last-minute changes, and challenging conversations with distressed families can add to the intensity, and busy shifts can leave limited time to process emotions.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review. It's really encouraging to hear how meaningful and rewarding you're finding your role as a Funeral Arranger in Edinburgh. We're proud that our colleagues feel able to build genuine and compassionate connections with the families we support, and that the role provides both variety and a strong sense of purpose. Your comments about the team culture, and the support provided by experienced colleagues and management, are especially valued, as creating an environment where people feel supported is incredibly important to us. We also appreciate your honest reflections on some of the challenges. We recognise that this role can be emotionally demanding, particularly in the early stages, and that there is a significant amount to learn. Making sure colleagues feel equipped, supported, and able to manage both the emotional and practical aspects of the role is something we continue to focus on through training, wellbeing support, and ongoing guidance. Thank you again for your feedback, and for the care and professionalism you bring to such an important role. It makes a real difference to the families and communities we serve.
