Pros

Good place to get your foot in the door out of college if you are interested in commercial real estate. If you stay too long it will hurt you in the long term.

Cons

Management. Work ethic. Quality of life. Company does not respect its employees. Management has the mentality that everyone is expendable. While people know this, it should never be voiced where lower level employees can hear it. Company has been know to steal from their competitors.

Pros

Benefits. Pay was pretty good for entry level. Work flexibility.

Cons

Management was terrible. Intimidation tactics and pressure to make Quota. Ever changing policies and if you got assigned a lower ranking portfolio you are screwed. Never felt appreciated and always afraid of getting fired. If you are a professional do not apply here. This job is mainly suitable for someone right out of college who has no clue how you should be treated in a real job.

Research and calling in particular is at the core of what we do. In order to collect the most comprehensive, accurate real-time information, we have to keep in direct contact with all the people necessary to keep our information the industry standard. We care deeply for our employees; it’s why we maintain exceptional benefits and competitive compensation. In addition, we focus on promoting from within. More managers come from research than are hired from outside of it.

Pros

Spends a lot of money on marketing and has a great product.

Cons

Comp plans are so confusing that upper management does not seem to understand it well enough to pay employees accurately. Commission checks are never paid correctly and employees must wait for the next commission check which is only once a month. Even then, it does not always mean it will get paid. Most employees are rather arrogant and do not understand their clients needs. You are just a number with this company and absolutely disposable. Upper management only attempts to pacify concerns versus actually addressing them.

We’re sorry that you had such a challenging experience with CoStar. We are laser-focused on making sure that our sales people are fairly and appropriately rewarded for their performance. While I can’t speak to your individual compensation situation, I can tell you that we’re constantly building and emphasizing new products and services which means that commission structure changes at the speed of our growth, which can be rapid.
