Pros

great benefits no weekends job security i'm writing more here because i have to reach the limit

Cons

unskilled managers gaslighting emotional abuse sexism racism ageism not to mention the CEO's soapbox rants this is a dead end job and doesn't translate well unless you plan to stay with costar for 10 years+ because if not get your transferable skills and leave, don't stay longer than necessary. the pay is ehh.. the owner makes soooo much more than his workers compared to his peers and raises are few, bonuses are nil. so much to say not enough time, if you're not a young single white man this place isn't for you. This place has no culture, no real vision it's very cutthroat here. There's a lot of manipulation, favoritism here as well. Initially they will offer so many perks like the food, and the wine mixers but they don't know what they're doing. They're hiring the blandest managers possible snuffing out any individuality from their people and if you don't conform, if you have children, are a woman or POC good luck.

We are disheartened to read this review and to learn that your experience working at CoStar Group was not a positive one. As a company, we are fully committed to developing a diverse workforce and fostering an equitable and inclusive environment. What you describe in your review is not in keeping with our goals to cultivate a thriving, diverse company culture where employees are engaged and feel empowered to bring their best selves to work each day. CoStar Group is committed to the equality of employment opportunity without regard to many protected classes including race, gender and age. This applies to decisions regarding employment activities including, but not limited to hiring, terminations, compensation and promotion. We actively recruit candidates from diverse backgrounds because we believe that diverse teams make good business sense. The diversity of thought resulting from our different perspectives and backgrounds allows us to deliver innovative research and technology solutions that best serve our customers. Our diversity, equity and inclusion programs have contributed greatly to our inclusive culture. Over the past year, we have developed an internship program which sources students of color pursuing undergraduate and advanced degrees and launched employee resource groups for people of color, women and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Many of these groups focus on professional development specifically for their members to aid in their career development. We have also increased the focus on diversity, equity and inclusion as themes within our new manager training and leadership development programs. To your comment about unskilled managers, we rolled out a new manager training program in late 2020 and through that program, have upskilled close to 300 managers to this point. Areas of focus for this program include transitioning from individual contributor roles to a manager level, self awareness and communication styles, fostering an environment of trust and inclusivity amongst team members and managing performance both formally and informally through coaching. We intend to grow this program over time, including programming for leaders at all levels. Additionally, we are taking active steps to develop our existing talent pool by investing in leadership development programming for employees of color. While we understand you have left the company, if you are able, please email HRdepartment@costar.com and share any additional information with us as it relates to your experience at the company so we can better understand your concerns and ensure current and future employees have a more positive experience . We wish you the best in your future career goals.

Pros

Free Yogurt. Free Salads. You have an opportunity to make money, but are very limited due to rules. If you like being behind a computer and management not giving you any sense of direction, this place is for you.

Cons

Very hard to stay motivated in a place with no work/life balance. CEO is easily one of the most egotistical people you will ever encounter which trickles down to anyone with any seat of power. Gossip and degrading environment Lack of Diversity. False career advancements "Fast Tracking" means nothing No Stabaility The perception of the Job and how it is Sold to new employees is quite amazing. Felt like high school. Clique Culture. You are replaceable. No value in what you sell. No value as a contributor to society. If you do well, you will be Investigated. No incentives. Take your time and understand why they want to hire fast; you are just another replacement. You literally do the same thing, every day. Nothing different. No excitement. No self improvement, Please ask yourself this question before you sign up for this job: Are your 8-9 hours a day worth everything i mentioned above? If this is all you have, i can understand, but i do ask, do not down play yourself. Take your time in your job search. You are going to be fine. This company preys on your insecurity, of not having a job and provides you with enough to get by. Its the same way for the product you sell. No real value. Just preying on insecurities and false hopes, for money.
