Pros

CoStar is a decent resume builder if you want to get into CRE without the help of a family connection.

Cons

Laughably low pay for Research Associates Byzantine bonus structure that changes quarter Micromanagement in the extreme.

We deeply respect the work our employees do, and we pay competitively to similar research roles in the job market. CoStar Group’s total compensation package is competitive based on the type of work and skill required for the job. The company regularly reviews market data and makes adjustments as appropriate. In addition, the Company has added a number of new jobs and career paths within Research which have provided a lot of promotional opportunities with strong salary increases. In regards to the bonus structure, the Company has improved the bonus criteria and process as well as the transparency of how bonuses are paid and distributed amongst employees based on performance. In Research in particular, the current bonus structure has been in place for about a year with much success and positive feedback from employees and managers.

Pros

Young work environment. Sales training. Easy hiring process. Good benefits, 401K, office.

Cons

Things were changing as I left. Hired less employees out of college. Culture was changing. Will fire you if you don't hit quota.

Thanks for the feedback. We love being able to give recent college grads, but none of our positions have ever catered exclusively to that demographic, and we seek a diverse culture in CoStar Group with varied experience and backgrounds to help build a robust, successful Inside Sales team. While over time different employees may foster a slightly different environment, we always want our employees to enjoy their work and regularly encourage in-office and out-of-office engagement because we know it makes work better overall. We do not take termination of employment lightly, and we communicate clearly with our employees to provide them with the information and resources they need to succeed in their role, and notify them if they are in violation of company policy.

Pros

CoStar has a lot of software development, database and IT related positions. The CIO is honest and fair and also is very technical. He is is a pleasure to work for.

Cons

In years past CoStar had some issues retaining staff and really had no perks to speak of, this is no longer the case and the amenities are plentiful
