Pros

I can say I worked for a BIG CORPORATE company They have great give-a-ways to clients

Cons

LIE, LIE, LIE They sell you this bridge but it's all a LIE (all depends on your Regional) and my Regional HANDED things to his "FAVORITE REPS" Reps who worked for him elsewhere, that he hired and brought over to Apartments.com. He LOVED to "train me" while talking on speaker phone from his truck! Costar is ALWAYS making changes, they ALWAYS have a vision, they ALWAYS want to take over someone, something AND be the BEST.....

Thank you for your feedback, and I’m sorry you didn’t have a pleasant experience working for CoStar Group. You’re right that a managing role at another company does not fully equip someone to manage at CoStar Group, and we offer training to managers so they are able to more effectively establish professional relationships with each and every one of their employees. All employees should feel equally valued by their manager, and a situation like this should not be repeated. But in terms of the changes we make, our vision and our determination to be the best, I don’t see how that can be negative. We know the information technology field is competitive and the apartment listing website market is particularly cutthroat, so by looking at all the goals we want to accomplish we continue to work with the big picture in mind. CoStar Group started as a small company and has grown enormously, but we still have a long way to go – the changes we make within the company help to prepare us for further growth in the future and help employees excel. We know some of those changes can be tough to adjust to, and we appreciate employee feedback to see what needs more work.

I’m sorry to hear you did not have a positive experience at CoStar Group. Based on the information you provided it sounds like you were in a research role, and I can assure you that we do not terminate our researchers often, and when we do it is after a thorough assessment that ultimately leads us to believe it is best for both us and the employee that we part ways. Over the last year we have incorporated a more qualitative assessment of work and have found that researchers are able to develop better relationships with their clients because of the focus on accuracy and completeness, rather than call volume or information units added. While we do have to use metrics measure the efficiency of an employee’s work, first and foremost we want quality information going into our database. We value our employees and if we see them struggling in any way we clearly communicate any issues and work with them closely. We want to see everyone succeed at CoStar Group, but like any position we know the role isn’t the best fit for everyone. We wish you all the best in the future.

Pros

Great benefits (although getting slightly worse over time, still great overall) Very professional atmosphere Access to top of the line Microsoft technology Ability to work on interesting projects Company seems to care about employee needs

Cons

Sometimes too quick to change business rules in light of something new happening in the market place, before vetting changes and their potential impact. This sometimes creates a stressful environment when changes have to be made last minute

Thanks for your feedback. As you mentioned, we do care a great deal about our employees. Our market-leading benefits package provides a wide variety of options for employees, while also encouraging them to lead a healthy lifestyle. Be sure to check out the 2015 Benefits Guide available to all employees, as it outlines many of the newly added benefits CoStar Group offers, including convenient Web Doctor medical consulting, increased tuition reimbursement and more. As CoStar Group is always working hard to maintain its status as the industry standard for commercial real estate information, new things happening in the market can quickly impact the way we do business. While some changes can be experimental to determine best practices in the long run, we appreciate our employees’ hard work to help determine what works and what doesn’t, and that includes feedback. It’s great to hear that you’re enjoying your time at CoStar Group and we’d love to talk more about reducing stress when new practices are incorporated – please contact hrdepartment@costargroup.com and we can talk about some specific examples.
