Pros

Pay is great, benefits are great

Cons

You HAVE to work in the car for 8 hours and you cannot stay in one location for more than two hours. Long term this is terrible health wise (constant back pain). This is a recent change as we used to be able to work from the car and at home. They are ALWAYS tracking you and there is a camera pointed at you in the car. The job is all about numbers so the more you do the happier they are. If they don't find you're being productive they will tell you (may be written up as well). I really don't see any room for advancement unless you're in a major city with an office. Everything is micromanaged. Managers just care about the numbers/metrics.

Thank you for leaving a review. If you are experiencing back pain you should let your manager know and seek medical attention. We know that change is difficult and not always well received and we are sensitive to the demands of the field research job. However, the Field Research role is a critical one in terms of the value the data brings to our customers. Unfortunately in may not be for everyone. We’d like to gather more information, please email us at hrdepartment@costar.com.

It’s true that the Research Associate position does require a lot of phone calls, but it’s a necessary part of the role to develop a strong relationship with key commercial real estate players. If we don’t communicate with clients, they won’t be able to close the deals they do. Researchers provide value to the people they call, helping them to earn a living by putting their information online. HR and management teams are increasingly working together to communicate areas that can be improved upon. We additionally conduct surveys and focus groups to best understand the opinions of current employees and implement new policies or programs to bring everyone onto the same page. For example, focus groups conducted last year have led to consistent training sessions available to managers to develop their skills in developing working relationships with their employees, effectively managing numbers, etc. Thank you for your feedback, and we wish you all the best in your future career.

Pros

Establishing friendships with the other people in the building who made the same mistake as you....taking the job there.

Cons

Right out of training, you 'll get on a team and your ready to start working. From the moment you make eye contact with your teammates, you realize that they are extremely unhappy. Do you remember in Pinnochio where he thinks he's going to Pleasure Island but then realizes it's a trap and everyone's being turned into donkeys? You'll feel the EXACT same way after a week of being on the floor. You are only one thing to the owner and senior management: A warm body. I'm pretty sure they'd hire zombies to do the job if they actually existed. Unfortunately, you're worthless to them. I used to think I had a career there. I really did. I was wrong. When it comes to CoStar, the grass is greener on the other side.
