Pros

Store culture really depends on DM, SM, and management in store. Was great when first started. Really listened to employees, openess to new processes, even RM communicated with employees. Greay discount, pay, and work life balance.

Cons

Things in corporate are changing and its trickling down and affecting stores. DM at time of departure was disengaged and didnt care about stores not close to him/her. Advancement opportunity not fair at all...DM wont even interview to see skillset and will only go off of feedback. Need to get to know Associate Managers (future leaders if stores) and put more time into their development. Opinion really does rely on who is running district. Some higher ups just not meant for position they hold. No feeling of pride in history and heritage. Lack of passion within employees...higher ups, managers, and associates

Pros

- Amazing talent/co-workers, a true pleasure to work with - The organization was a well-oiled machine with processes in place to get work done efficiently. (This slowly change due to re-structuring and high turnover.) - A great place to learn the business of Retail - Excellent employee benefits - Fair compensation - New headquarters in Hudson Yards soon - A truly global brand

Cons

- A feeling that corporate stopped valuing its people - Lack of transparency once the company began re-branding (coinciding with restructuring) in 2013 - Upper management with poor people management skills responsible for large groups/divisions - Bleeding talent due to instability of the work environment. For example, layoffs now come at random times, whereas prior they were associated with the quarterly earnings call. Co-workers leaving voluntarily would mysteriously disappear with little notice because upper management did not want to announce the amount of turn over. - Increased work load for all remaining employees trying to meet impossible demands when running on empty - Large amounts of time spent on onboarding new employees and temps significantly took away from productivity
