Pros

Honestly I could not be happier to work for a company so committed to retaining its culture- There are many companies out there that talk the talk but Coffman really walks the walk. We have a great work-life balance, professional staff, and a president that really cares about the future of our company.

Cons

Please pay closer attention to market rate wages for all staff (not just the engineers)... It will help with retention.

You had me at honestly ;) Your comment about non-engineer staff wages is duly noted. There aren't as many benchmarks available for these positions in our industry. But we have recently invested in some subscription services that can help us keep in tune with our industry specific marketplace. Keep being great, and we will keep leading on! Dave Ruff - President

Pros

This company is a wonderful place to work for! Our Coffman Culture is work hard, play hard. We always put in 100% to get the job done, but definitely take some time to enjoy ourselves as well!

Cons

The only con is working inside when it is sunny and warm outside during the summer. Although, we do have the option work outside sometimes :)

Yes, it is very unfortunate that our clients need our services most when the ground is not frozen. But it seems that you have adequately "let it go". Dave Ruff - President

Poor local management

Pros

This is a fairly large company, yet the management style on a corporate level is consistent from office to office.

Cons

Although management on a corporate level is consistent, our local management lacks in consistency and unity.

Thanks for the feedback; both the pro and the con. It is encouraging that you experienced a consistent management style from most of our organization. Of course, it is troubling to hear that you don't feel the consistency permeating your local environment. You happen to be in our newest location where we recently merged with another company. During a merger the resulting culture and style becomes a blend of both companies. We influence each other and take the best from each to combine as a stronger whole. However, this is an inherently long process. Culture (which includes management style) is the driver behind consistency. Companies can fake themselves into thinking that policy and mandate are a quick fix to drive consistency, but if they succumb to that temptation, they will compromise the culture in the process. They gain compliance but choke the engine that really drives success. We want culture to be the main driver for change because it is the sustainable play for long term consistency. Unfortunately this sustainable approach takes time and may account for some perceived or experienced disparities. Thank you for your patience with this process. I am working with the local team to continue to unify our approach. All the best. - Dave Ruff, President
