Bizarre culture, stressful environment

Pros

4 weeks paid vacation, great retirement fund match. Most federal holidays off. Some flexibility to work from home. Feel free to drop everything and go volunteer at your kids' school in the middle of the work day.

Cons

Cliquish, with plenty of management favoritism to go around. There are many cults of personality and sacred cows, at least in the Reston office. Huge numbers of Indian people who all seem to already know each other and recommend their friends for jobs. High starting salaries and lack of management seems to drive lack of young, junior people with new ways of doing things. May be by design. Lots of mid-career folks who are coasting and have no energy for growth.

Pros

The benefits: 4 weeks vacation, 403b, remote work options, etc are excellent. The hours are not long. Not very stressful. And the pay is competitive.

Cons

Very incompetent leadership. No upward mobility for non-executives. Leadership does not know how to take care of their teams. Weird mix of academics and pseudo-business types.
