Pros
You learn a lot about your own strengths and weaknesses. Employers will take you more seriously after doing this job if you're going into business or anything involving project management (although they won't care if you're a science, math, computer science or social science major.)
Cons
- There is no support. DO NOT DO THIS JOB IF YOU ARE POOR. The chances of you making it to the end of the summer is about 5%, and if you make it, pay is based entirely on commission, so chances are that you will make less than minimum wage. - If you talk to management asking for help, they will spin it to sound like you are incapable, and everything is your fault. They may ignore you because they are focusing on top performers, or they may push you to quit. Their goal is to make you feel like it is your fault to avoid you talking negatively about them. - A lot of people think this job is a scam. While all of this is technically legal, CWP will tell you that the average intern that finishes the summer makes $12,000. This is true. However, your chances of finishing the summer without quitting are about 5%, and if you quit, you don't get paid anything. Keep in mind too, that many interns who finish the summer get paid $8000 or less, which means they make less than minimum wage. - CWP pays its employees to write reviews about this job online. Many companies do this, and this is a normal practice. However, if employees weren't paid to write reviews, you would see a lot more negativity here. Take good reviews with a grain of salt. - The company is 99% white males. Hiring practices have been known to be discriminatory.
