Pros

It is a great learning experience for sales and marketing. It gives you the ability to network. While working for College Works I got offered numerous other jobs.

Cons

Very tough. Over half the people quit before you even start to paint houses, and a few more will quit in the middle of the summer. They tell you that sherwin williams is going to train your painters but in reality they get a two hour training from you, the rest is learned on the job site from making mistakes.

We’re glad the experience opened doors for you. Learning to lead under pressure is a challenge, but it's where the most growth happens.

Pros

Looks good on a resume, gives sales experience and you can make a couple hundred dollars here and there which is always a bonus.

Cons

Going out in the freezing cold in march and going door to door asking people if they want a free estimate on their house. A lot of angry people at the doors and very few (about 1%) end up getting closed.

Learning to lead, communicate, and close sales early on creates unmatched career momentum. That’s what we’re here to teach.

Pros

Couldn't even tell you any cons to this job, everything about it is a scam.

Cons

Biggest scam I have ever seen, everything that was promised to us by the managers was a complete and utter lie. After working 90 total hours in 2 weeks where in one week we worked over 50 hours and they get away with not giving us overtime pay, I was giving a check in which I was very disappointed with. We were told if we would finish our jobs and beat the budgeted time we would receive much more money. Even after our student manager had told us that we had beaten budget on almost every house, the paycheck had suggested that we had only finished the houses on time on every house we had did. If the payment had worked for how they told us we would have been payed for more than the 90 physical hours that we worked because we had beaten these houses by several houses like we were told. But instead of being paid for more we were just paid for the physical hours that we had worked. So after the hefty efficiency bonus of a whopping 5 dollars my hourly wage came out to be a couple cents over minimum wage. If I would have known that I would work for more than 10 hours a day just to receive minimum wage I would have laughed at the thought of this job. There were so many promises I was given that I have either not gotten or was just a huge load of bs. It is such a shame that they scam us like this especially for college kids who could really use a job in which they could make more than minimum wage. Working for more than 50 hours in one week of painting houses really puts a toll on you physically and mentally, and to only be paid minimum wage for this kind of work is such a disgrace. The only reason i am still employed for this business is because my best friend is a regional manager and I have seen how much time and effort he has put into this job and to see him get screwed over just as bad. I don't want him to be screwed over even more by not having enough workers, and I can speak on behalf of the rest of the kids that work with me that they feel the same way. I can't believe half of the stuff they do they can legally get away with. I hope other people are well aware of this before they decide to get involved in this pyramid schemes scam.
