Great people Safety focus Technical growth through training and mentoring Extremely challenging environment Feels like a small company but projects and technology rival those of a large company Many and varied project opportunities Few barriers between groups Open, honest communication is encouraged at all levels Very stable company Good benefits

Cons

Staffing levels - many pieces of the organization are ran on a skeletal staff The size of the employee base and the historic retention means that someone has to die for you to move up. Extremely challenging environment Ramp time into Colonial is counted in years A large percentage of the Staff is poised for retirement Work life balance is difficult due to low staffing and project load Potentially hazardous environment - It is a petroleum pipeline company

Pros

Job security is pretty good, if you are not fired, which happens more often than at other companies. Although the long work days and weekends can be destructive to your personal life, they sometimes present good learning opportunities.

Cons

The company is significantly understaffed. If you are not willing to give up your personal life, go elsewhere. The pay is OK, but not competitive with major oil and gas companies. The pension plan is not available to new hires. High voluntary and involuntary turnover makes it tough for those that remain behind and are required to pick up their work load.
