Pros

- Mission is good, about as good as one could ask for. Literally preventing people from dying from cancer. - The people here are nice. No one is trying to prove they are the smartest. There is abundant humility, even among amazing people. - Extremely effective teams. Overall a very high level of experience and maturity, people really know what they are doing. - Culture of working focused hours rather than long ineffective hours. - Less "technical debt" than most companies at this stage, though obviously not none. - High retention, which translates to strong institutional knowledge. - Pretty great off site events for both the whole company or individual teams. Really fun, but not in an opulent way.

Cons

- More than 100% of engineering bandwidth is allocated for new stuff to the extent where eng excellence and eng housekeeping suffer. Recruiting additional talent is underway, but difficult what with the current job market. - Location not ideal. - Office space is really strained. There is a real impact on productivity from how loud the office is and how hard it is to find quiet areas. It's also difficult to schedule meetings. - The autonomy in a flat eng team is great. However, the way eng work is assigned has the unfortunate consequence that people's individual strengths are not being used effectively.

Pros

- Meaningful work. It's an exciting and humbling opportunity to work on a product that has the potential of saving lives and contributing to the future of science and health care. Having a "bigger than us" goal helps keep everything in perspective. - Culture of humility and learning. People come from diverse tech and science backgrounds and are experts in their specific domains, but know that we need each other to be successful and in turn, there's a strong culture of knowledge sharing, and peer to peer teaching and learning. - Genuine people. People bring their whole selves to work - their quirks, their passions, their families, etc.

Cons

-Transitioning to healthcare has been tough! Lots to learn about old school expectations/technology in healthcare.

Pros

1. Mission. We've brought the cost of clinical-grade genetic tests down more than 10x, we're enabling access to important health information and a way to surface genetic conditions within families. We have a non-profit 501(c)(3) to support families that are at extreme risk, but can not afford genetic testing. We work with the top leaders in genetics and Medicine to drive the industry forward. 2. Team. Such amazing people! I can not sign my praises of this team enough. 3. Culture. Transparency, team-oriented, respect for people.

Cons

1. Some growing pains as the company has expanded rapidly, but to be expected.
