Interesting and convenient, zero commitment to employee development

Pros

If you are mature and come with low expectations about what CCU will do for you, you can manage nicely in this conveniently located environment.

Cons

The culture is not like a real University. More like a camp or a high school. Management style is completely top down and autocratic. No one gets a performance review or a raise. Ever. That is the POLICY. Women are vastly under represented in upper management while, of course, shoulder the great percentage of the work in the middle and lower ranks. Employees are often expected to show up nights/weekends to assist with exciting projects but still work their normal full work week in addition. The salaries are not really a living wage. The rationale would be that everyone working there is called by God so this is their vocational ministry. But the truth is that is hard on families.

VERY Conservative

Pros

Christian environment for anyone seeking such an environment. The University is fairly small and the staff and faculty are friendly. Conservative viewpoints, even for a Christian environment. Great community setup - quick response from other department (HR, IT etc.). Strategic workshops are informative and allows the staff to get to know others from various departments.

Cons

Too conservative; almost to an extreme. Discouraged to associate with anyone that is not as conservative; too many meetings. For a Christian environment, the staff and faculty can be very judgmental. Office gossip is not uncommon. Low pay for the amount of work that is required; no annual raises for quality performance.
