Pros

Immediate supervisors are very supportive. Co-workers are fantastic — always willing to help, friendly, happy to share knowledge.

Cons

Pay is too low. Columbia Bank legacy employees’ pay was NOT adjusted to match that of legacy Umpqua employees at the merger. CEO is out of touch and petty. No room for growth. Hiring freezes and layoffs over the past year have meant everyone is overworked and we’re still expected to meet greater numbers than last year.

Pros

There are alot of opportunities to give feedback and examples of things that would improve the bank. Even to collaborate in groups addressing surveys. Many managers provide opportunities for employees to weigh in on perspectives and make you feel your voice matters.

Cons

Feedback on culture, RTO perspectives, employee retention is disregarded even as it’s revisited over and over. Negative feed back is tagged as disengaged employees even if they are performing in their roles. Employee survey results were terrible for 2024 and mostly due to early layoffs, chaotic RTO roll out and bait and switch tactic of hybrid roles vs RTO culture. Feedback from departments was transparent and clear about their concerns. Executive management does not see a reason to adjust their direction based on feed back. Even though we have opportunities to share ideas direct managers will report that even though they value the idea their hands are tied by executive management to do anything different. A lot of finger pointing to why the culture is what it is, upper management points down and direct managers point up.

Pros

Coworkers are kind and caring

Cons

Leadership post-merger is full of couture roles and a quite literal amateur hour of financial bumbles and leadership missteps. Leadership has lied outright to analysts. Pay is below industry standard for most levels and above industry standard for executives. Why is there a corporate plane flying from Tacoma to Portland?
