Pros

The education benefits, if you want them.

Cons

Decentralized and wasteful, under-resourced, low salaries, like doing business in the stone age.

Pros

Excellent name on your resume The students are amazing to work with Your colleagues care about the work and are passionate about it You get a lot of experience wearing many hats and therefore acquire different transferable skills

Cons

The salary is a little higher than average but it is still not equivalent to the cost of living in NYC The annual raises can be quite small unless you get a promotion which then creates a lot of competition for promotions Management can be antiquated in mindset, practices, and focus meaning lack of understanding for DEIB to implement with staff, being unclear about pathways to promotion, and lacking transparent with employees regarding decision making
