Pros

The people are generally very nice and collaborative

Cons

Huge pay inequity between colleges and even within offices with people who share the same title and pay grade.

Unhelpful Admin/HR

Pros

Provides research experience, depending on your boss you might be able to contribute to academic works to help strengthen grad school apps, if you have an 1199 union position you get free health insurance

Cons

Hiring process takes forever, admin is generally unhelpful and disorganized, overall the institution tends to hinder us instead of effectively facilitating our research. If you're working in research, there typically isn't much room to move up the ladder without getting a doctorate, and there can be a really weird hierarchy in research

Pros

they provide good health insurance and tuition benefits

Cons

It's a very traditional, old-school environment that does not treat or value lower or mid-level employees. Not progressive and stifling of anything new or innovative. They have poor management with no clear career growth opportunities; they offer below-market pay, despite having enormous resources and money. They have very opaque processes for promotions and salary increases, despite positive performance evaluations, and have a lot of practices in place that discourage DEIA work and hiring of diverse talent. Would not recommend working here
