Pros

Remote work opportunities. Long lunch periods.

Cons

Call center. calls are timed and monitored b y team leaders (managers). Calls are inbound (meaning you don’t have to cold call anyone). This also means you have no control of the number of calls that you do or do not receive. Positive performance appraisals are contingent on your call numbers/times/ which is largely outside of your control. Discouraged from having calls last beyond 5 minutes (this can be a challenge when offering referrals, or dually assessing for risk. ) Lack of support from peers or management. Siloed role. Management discourages communication from peers. Clinical supervision for licensure occurs during lunch hour, If you chose to participate you would forego your lunch. Experiences in this role did not provide any transferable clinical skills to assist me in future roles. This was not an experience/role appropriate for clinical, master level social workers. Poor benefits considering this position is not eligible for PSLF, and there were no loan repayment benefits at the time of my employment. No opportunities for advancement unless you have a LCSW however, pursuing an LCSW is far too advanced for the guidance consultant Experienced difficulty managing client expectations for support when faced with managerial expectations for low call times. This is also counter to the product being sold .

Pros

None. Honestly, this was one of the worst places I’ve ever worked.

Cons

Micro management. Do not be fooled by “clinical intakes” and “triaging”. You are a call center representative. A ton of callers don’t even know who they’re calling. You need to filter through people assuming you’re HR, etc. Such a high turnover too—coworkers don’t do documentation correctly and it gets confusing. Pay is abysmal for someone with a masters degree. Absolutely do not work here.

Rewarding and Growing!

Pros

Its excellent to contribute to a tenured sales team that continues to grow year over year and deliver solid sales performance while providing meaningful resources and assistance to employers and individuals! Management is responsive and caring and genuinely interested in your personal and career development. In this role you have the unique opportunity to partner with large global employers, strategic business partners, and consultants and strategically guide them to provide best-in-class mental health, absence and overall well being resources. Finally, the ComPsych value proposition is differentiated and unique in a market where many competitors look similar and the company continues to reinvest to maintain our position as the industry leader!

Cons

There's a lot of opportunity (and work associated) and at some times it can be a bit much. The company recognizes this and has made efforts over the past few years for teams to take a breath and have some fun.
