Pros

It’s a job. That’s about it.

Cons

They give you a lot of days off, which seems great, but it is conter-balanced by the fact that you have to work on Christmas Eve, New Years Eve, a full day before Thanksgiving, etc. You have to use all of your time off, if you have any sort of a family, on holidays. Oh and sick days are considered vacation. I find this quite funny since it’s a health and wellness company. They completely discourage health and wellness by forcing you to take time off or go with no pay if you have a doctors’ appt or are sick. Benefits are awful. The pay is painfully low. There is no room for growth. Overall, this company will ultimately fail because of the high turnover of its employees. Honestly though, if you get a job here, continue your job search because you will not be happy here.

Pros

Good location. Free bagels sometimes.

Cons

This is a glorified call center and should be regarded as such by potential employees. Terrible benefits options. Only 3 days of sick leave per year available. Rampant micromanagement. Unmanageable expectations for call volume handled by guidance consultants. No breaks allowed.

Pros

Easy way to accrue hours - your hours should count towards licensing with the state, assuming you fill out the paperwork correctly Fun people to work with - because the other phone counselors are masters level as well, most of them are decent people willing to lend a listening ear if you’re having a rough day Work downtown - I just liked working downtown

Cons

Supervision is a waste of time - my supervisor used supervision as a way for us to BS for an hour. She never came prepared to teach us anything useful, and anything she did teach was a rehash of things she did before. Upper management doesn’t understand phone counselors needs - most of the managers that work there haven’t even done the same job as the guidance consultants so they speak to you as if you’re stupid and should know what you’re doing. They can’t relate to the issues you face and would rather sit back and tell you to get back to work then help you. Sexism - as a male, I noticed a high level of competition between the female managers and female staff. One of my coworkers was pregnant and understandably had to use the bathroom often, and was scolded for spending so much time going to the bathroom. Other female coworkers were chastised for other ridiculous reasons. I got away with way more as a man.
