Not what I was hoping for...

Pros

Free snacks and bagels on Fridays. Nice location.

Cons

My disclaimer is that I haven't worked for ComPsych in 2 years. But I'm startled and saddened to see current reviews that reflect the same experiences I had 2 years ago... -Micromanaged to the bone -Poor training / policies changing constantly with no communication of changes -Chained to your desk -Call center environment -You will not get sufficient clinical experience to be a competent mental health professional -3 sick days a year that you need to request in advance (I guess we're all clairvoyant and know exactly what days we will be sick) -Entry level shift is 1-9pm -Very expensive "benefits" -Sub-par salary for masters-level clinicians -Expensive parking ($200/month while I was working there) -No mentorship or guidance from supervisors -High employee turnover - I can't remember my coworker's names since they were out the door as soon as they were in -Little engagement with co-workers since you're chained to your desk -You're expected to complete a comprehensive intake assessment in 5 minutes or less so you can hurry up and take another call -Rapid burnout from tremendous disorganization and high demand from management I could go into greater detail, but I think my experiences are shared based on the other negative reviews on Glassdoor. This company is doing a huge disservice to both its clients and its highly-educated and driven employees that want to pursue careers in mental health.

It's gotten better

Pros

Bagels on Fridays, free snacks (cashews and almonds, coffee, tea) The managers are all real kind and approachable. A few have been in our position so are more understanding if a mistake happens. Free supervision Friendly co workers; probably the main reason I have stayed so long They hired more people so the call volume is more manageable. You get raises every 6 months for the first 2 years you're there They give seniored people different tasks so you're not on the phone all day Activities like chili cook off, secret Santa and cubicle decorations A few people in management were let go who were the reasons a lot of employees were dropping like flies. The work environment is a lot less tense.

Cons

They did away with fruit as an alternative, not that that was any good anyway but for those that prefer low carb, it was an option. This job can be stressful. They won't say this up front but it's a call center and you're the first person people reach, which means you're also the person that other departments tend to blame when something goes wrong. At my one year review my raise was a pitiful 3%, which came to $900 more a year. They have since implemented raises but I can't believe I worked that long for such little pay. One call will be someone asking a legal question, the next will be someone that thought about shooting themself that day and the next call will be someone wanting help planning a vacation. The constant anxiety of what call you're going to get next was sometimes too much. Since you're just a number, you're not really valued and rarely given positive feedback, which goes a long way in this job.

A waste of my time

Pros

The location was great. Worked in the NBC Towers. Every other Friday company provided bagels. Free coffee, snacks and juice and that's the only thing good about this company.

Cons

Low low low pay but require you to have at least a Bachelors Degree. What a joke. Managers didn't know how to do their jobs. This job is great for someone who has a high school diploma or someone who is interning or their very first job. Absolutely no room for advancement.
