Pros

Location was pretty good. Coworkers share in your misery.

Cons

Poor salary. Terrible benefits. No flex time. The ceo is unbelievably arrogant and the cheapest person I've ever encountered.

Misery and Laughably Low Pay

Pros

Free bagels twice a month. Location (as much as any other down town Chicago office building, I suppose).

Cons

Ridiculously low pay. Entry level position for department I was in is $31k, the next position up the ladder was confirmed to add $60 more a paycheck after taxes by those who had been promoted. And in most cases, you have to put a minimum of 2 years in just to get to that position. Even those in higher positions were clearly jaded about working for the company, as they would openly complain about not being able to further progress due to politics. Very high turnover rate, which primarily has to do with the previous paragraph, and not just with the entry level positions. This means I went though 3 different managers in less than a year, which meant A) continuously adjusting to different expectations, according to who the manager was at the time, and B) perpetually having a manager who has not been a manager for very long and is still attempting to figure out how to be one (no consistency). Quantity-obsessed work environment. Numbers were clearly the priority in this job. Workers who would do quality work (meaning accommodating customers) would continuously be called out for low numbers, and would be offered little to no advice on how to "improve", and would not be shown appreciation for the quality aspect of their work. Overall, this job will work well if you either pay dirt cheap rent, or are living with your parents for free. Stick around to get something on your resume, then find a job that pays decently, and where the company cares about its workers.

Pros

Location- Always lots to do around the office. Restaurants, events on the plaza, shopping Hours- Overall this is a relatively easy job. Work is never taken home and there is no expectation to work any more than your regular hours

Cons

Pay- The pay here sucks. Period. If you do accept a job here, you are starting at such a low salary that with the very small raises you get yearly it never really adds up to enough to actually live in the city you are working in No room for growth- HR has clearly been very busy writing lots of positive review lately, but do not listen to them. You will likely not advance very far within this company. Higher positions are usually filled by someone external, while those internal employees actually looking for a career are ignored and eventually forced to leave to find an actual career where they are respected and allowed to advance. Sure, you can always get more work or responsibility, but don't expect to be compensated for it. Overall employee treatment- For an EAP company, ComPsych treats its own employees like dirt. You should be treating your own employees at least half as well as you advertise that you treat your clients. Not the case here unfortunately. Free snacks and coffee are great, but they don't help pay the bills.
