Pros

This company is part of the Ace Group so if you are looking for a fast pace environment in a global firm this may appeal to you as long if you fit the company culture and deliver the results the company expects. They have good benefits for corporate employees.

Cons

They take pride on a heartless and cut throat culture that values results no matter what. Management is extremelly political, autocratic and heartless. Decisions are often based on knee jerk reactions. Their matrix management system is caotic and makes accountability a nightmare. I saw good people who had given their best years to this company used as scapegoats and their careers damaged or ended as a result of this.management style. Although they have "lightened up" some since their old days, they still badger people when they don't get their desired results. If you are a sucessful agent/sales manager you will be put on a pedestal and they will idolize you as long as you continue to deliver on their ever changing and increasing sales goals. However, be aware that you are an employee and they can and will rearrange your territory, salesforce, goals, compensation and client base as they see fit. If If you care about your family and long term future I would advice your to look for a company with clear and transparent compensation that will allow you to own your own book of business.

Pros

Like seeing the customers helping them protect their selves and their family Being there to protect in case a serious condition or short term disability keeps them from working ;great policies, awards and trips. Great benefits being a W2 employee Mr. stone's books, PMA and WCS awards

Cons

They say they promote on merit ; well not in this region---- (NC,SC, VA) /EAST zone been with Combined over 3 years and have more awards and other accomplishments but that doesn't matter, you will only make a promotion based on if you are in the circle, in the group, that "clicks" !!!! Manager says been here for over 20 yrs now but at previous meeting was 14 yrs , 16 yrs and 17 yrs but trying to understand how that 6 years has past in the last 3 years since i've been here. Once you past your 4 weeks of training , if u get that much, you are on your own ; i've learned everything i know by researching , asking, reading and studying the material and key associations/contacts over the years . They say , one quote they use, you are in business for yourself but not by yourself ; that is far from the truth . Giving, actually, "earning" advertising dollars doesn't qualify validating this or using the quote above. Very micro managing type of environment which is fairly recent occurrence over last 18 to 24 month not like it used to be but just wait things only change Giving an accurate post here; they want you to also recruit to bring in new agents but most don't last over 9 mns.

Thank you for taking the time to review our company. We especially appreciate hearing from a current employee. We really appreciate that you brought up a “pro” that we hear often -that agents can experience a deep sense of satisfaction by “helping customers protect themselves and their families.” As you also mentioned, we offer our agents a comprehensive benefits package, special awards and incentives. We are proud to continue to embrace our founder, W. Clement Stone’s, philosophy of having a positive mental attitude (PMA), and we strive to incorporate his values in our overall company environment. We wish you all the best in your career here with us at Combined!

Pros

90 years of heritage

Cons

Management, across the board is a con. They are not there to build up their teams instead, employees are scapegoats that are overworked and under appreciated and under paid. Recruitment is a joke, if you are licensed and have a pulse you're hired. After training, agents are often left to their own devices and struggle to launch in the field without any backing from corporate. Ask any recruiter about retention of agents, it is abysmal. Unfortunately, a once phenomenal and trustworthy brand that cared about it's every employee, has become stunted and unable to adapt and advance to suit a new generation of employees and customers.
