Pros

Decent training if you can get away for 11 days, sit in class 8 hours a day, and share a hotel room with a stranger

Cons

Lack of professionalism in the Ontario staff, harassed by upper management if you don't sell based on your objectives for that day/week. The incompetent clerical staff in Ontario is given more support than the sales/sales management team. Very high turnover - agents would barely last a few weeks. Company will hire anyone who is licensed because they have to fill their quotas.

All depends on the Market

Pros

Combined has a terrific training program and the fact that they ship you out to Chicago or one of their other training centers for two weeks teaching you the ins and outs says a lot about the company. The core values of the company are extremely solid and lets be honest, W. Clement Stone was an extremely intelligent and capable man.

Cons

Depending on the market you are looking to get into will determine the level of sales. The type of personality you have will determine your level of sales. If you are not comfortable cold calling, don't bother applying. The leads are not really "leads". They are merely active customers and lapsed customers with a few business leads thrown in there, most of which are several years out dated. I have however made quite a lot of money on the leads that were provided, all depends on how well you are with transitioning and pivoting. I worked with an amazing market director and territory manager, and I worked with a terrible one. It's a shame, but such is life, not everyone manages the same. The amount of time and energy your management team is willing to put into you will make a big difference in whether or not you will excel or even make it. From what I have seen there are far too many mediocre managers within the company spewing "immediate growth" out of their mouths instead of spending time training the agents and territory managers they currently have.
