Indiscriminate downsizing (or right sizing?)
Pros
Comcast has generally offered fairly competitive salaries and bonus structures. Their paid time off & benefits are very good, if not excellent.
Cons
Comcast's National organizations have underwent 4 years of lay-offs with many of those positions being off-shored to CIEC (Comcast India Engineering Center). They have recently announced the elimination of their Divisions. This will involve further reduction in workforce; the extent of that reduction is yet to be determined. National/HQ is very KPI & metrics driven. While individual people leaders in National/HQ organizations may promote work-life balance for their team, it is not a common sentiment throughout the company. The ill-fated Divisions have been more aligned with a people-first culture, but that will be going away soon. The downsizing within National/HQ was not done with anything like a 9-box talent grid. They simply laid off swathes of individuals, and entire business units in some cases, with seemingly no regard to how that work would be done. I witnessed an Engineering group & Operations group--focused on one particular product/service--being laid off many months before the off-shore workforce was stood up to takeover those functions.
